TEKnology Lab Level 2 offers a continuation of level 1 by expanding upon each topic while using typed code.
Technology Lab level 2 offers a learning progression beyond level 1. Utilizing similar applications and concepts initially, level 2 dives into actual coding for each application, as well as a more intermediate look into each area of study. Level 2 can act as a starting point for older or more advanced students and can also act as a great reinforcement to the concepts learned in level 1 as students will explore each area in more depth, work with actual code (instead of block code), work with several new applications and technologies, and complete many different projects.
Students will receive a base understanding of web technologies using HTML and CSS languages to produce web pages. Specifically, students will work with text, lists, images, links, styling, tables, and forms. Students will finish this lesson by completing a sample company web page project.
Students will explore pixel art technology and learn many different concepts to create game art inspired pixel tiles. These tiles will be integrated into a tilemap editor. At the end of this lesson, students will have a tileset that can be integrated into a platform style video game.
Using Linux simulation software, students will learn the basics of interacting with the Linux operating system from the command line. Students will learn how to navigate the Linux filesystem, edit files, and the basics of system administration. Students will complete a quiz at the end of this lesson.
Students will gain an understanding of 3D printing and use a coding application to produce 3D models. Students will specifically learn programming concepts to complete a project by the end of this lesson.
Students will use the Python programming language to program simulated robots. Specifically, the programs will utilize simulated sensors to navigate through obstacles and mazes. Students will solve a problem at the conclusion of this module.
