Course Overview

Prerequisite: Information Technology 2

Computer Science 1 is a comprehensive, year-long course designed to introduce students to the core concepts that power modern computing. Through a balance of hands-on projects and conceptual learning, students develop strong problem-solving skills, learn how software systems work together, and gain practical programming experience across multiple areas of computer science.

Students begin by working in a Linux command-line environment, building a strong technical foundation before progressing into web development, databases, APIs, and networking. As the course advances, learners explore data science, introductory machine learning concepts, and game development, connecting theory to real-world applications.

By the end of the course, students have a well-rounded understanding of computing systems and are prepared for advanced coursework and future opportunities in technology.
